Ladies Color
Why do old Jewish ladies color their hair red?
I live in West Palm Beach, Fl. Just an observation, and I was wondering why.
I have no idea. Some guesses:
1.) There was a sale on red hair dye in the area.
2.) “Everyone” is doing it. Peer pressure doesn’t go away apparently.
3.) Many Jewish people have dark hair. After they go grey, they can finally experiment with light/bright colors like red.
4.) A portion of Jewish people (Ashkenazi Jews) have significant European ancestry, and thus can wear red and have it suit their coloring. This may because they had red/reddish hair while young, or someone in their family, like a parent, did.
5.) It’s some sort of local trend, such as the “Red Hat Ladies”, who wear red hats everywhere they go.
6.) Red is a very popular hair dye color. Could be sheer coincidence.
Gotta love people…who can explain them?
